¹⁵ This beast was also given the ability to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast spoke and caused whoever did not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ He also makes all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, ¹⁷ in order that no one may buy or sell unless he has the mark—the name of the beast or the number of his name.
